A Drive In Autumn

The Habit

I work seven days a week and take maybe one day off a month, if that. It is not discipline at this point, it is just how the years have arranged themselves.

Where It Started

First job was handing out flyers in the second year of middle school. I collected flyers from three shops at once to make more, though I kept some manners about it and picked different trades. A laundry, a gamjatang restaurant and an English academy. At twenty five I went to Australia and refused to take money from home, so it was twelve hour days for tuition and, since I was a carpenter, for the ute and the tools. A drop saw and everything that goes around it does not buy itself.

Today

Which is why a day that is only a drive counts as an occasion. Korea has four proper seasons and autumn here has a quiet, settled feeling to it.
