Three Hours

The Site

A general grocery store this time. Smaller footprint, tighter aisles, and a customer who came in for food and will look at apparel only if it does not slow them down.

The Time

Three hours from the truck arriving to the last hanger being faced. Fixtures up, stock out of the cartons, sizes run, signage on, floor swept. The team has done this often enough that nobody asks where anything goes and nobody stands around waiting to be told. The truck is unloaded in a fixed order so the fixtures come off first and the stock arrives to a floor that is already built.

Why It Matters

Speed on setup is not a boast, it is rent. Most of these sites are short and the clock starts the moment the doors open, so every hour spent building is an hour not selling.

The people who make it look easy are the ones who have done it badly enough times to know why each step is in that order.
