Hungry At Traders

The Shift

Another Emart Traders store, another night build. These floors only become ours after the last customer has gone home, so the fixtures go up under half the lights with the whole place to ourselves. Quiet, efficient, no carts to work around. Genuinely the easiest way to do this job.

The Problem

Not one restaurant nearby was still delivering. Not one. We searched, we widened the radius, we searched again an hour later in case the map had changed its mind about us. It had not.

The Temptation

Traders carries groceries the way Costco does, which is to say aisles of it, in quantities that would feed our crew for a month. And we were building an apparel display roughly ten steps away from all of it, at midnight, on empty stomachs. I will say only that the thought crossed several minds and that everybody behaved themselves admirably.

New rule for the next night site. Somebody brings food. haha
