Cutting Boards
What Came In
Thirty pallets of kitchenware. Lacquered end grain and mahogany cutting boards, which is not a category this warehouse was built around, and yet here they are next to the apparel. End grain boards are heavy, so thirty pallets takes up less floor than the weight on the manifest suggests.

What Else Gets Asked For
Once you are inside the season off trade the enquiries stop making conventional sense. Someone asked about a million plates at under thirty cents a piece. Sofas and desks come across at under five dollars each. Once, an entire building of roughly 10,000 pyeong.

Why We Take Them
Because the buyers who take our clothing take other things too, and a pallet of cutting boards is not harder to store than a pallet of coats. The buyers are also different people to the apparel buyers, which quietly widens the list of names in the phone.

There is apparently no category on earth that does not end up on clearance somewhere.
