I Lost Count
What Came In
Twenty eleven ton trucks. I decided to count them myself, one at a time, feeling organised about it. Somewhere around the middle the number left my head entirely and I had to go and ask somebody. Twenty is not a difficult number. In my defence, they do not arrive in a tidy line and they do not wait.

The Numbers
Roughly 80,000 pieces of apparel and 30,000 pairs of shoes. The forklift ran all day. Not part of the day. The whole day, from the first pallet to the last one, with breaks measured in minutes.

What Now
All of it is inside the building and none of it is sorted. So tomorrow morning I inherit a problem that this morning I created with a great deal of enthusiasm and no apparent thought for the man who has to unpack it.

Ask me when this is going out and I will answer once I have sat down for a bit.
