What This Is

There is a practice here called kkalsae. You find a piece of idle land, agree with the owner for two weeks or a month, put up a floor and sell on it. Short term rental, nothing more complicated than that.

The Site

This one was in Daegu and it was busier than I expected for an empty lot. Open ground has one advantage a shopping centre does not, which is that people can see the entire operation from the road before they decide to pull in.

At The Register

A lot of these sites run on cash, so I worked the register myself for most of it. I like standing in front of people. It is the part of this job I would keep even if I had somebody to hand it to.

You learn more in four hours behind a till than in a month of looking at what sold.
